In 2013 I undertook the five day face-to-face portion of Certificate IV in Celebrancy with Keith Lammond from AQT. It was a great experience and I learnt heaps, plus had much to take home for reference. I am based in Canberra and had had Keith recommended by someone in Sydney who had done the same course a few years previously. It turned out to be a great recommendation and I definitely learnt a lot.
For me it was easier to head to Sydney and do a full face-to-face course – which included actually writing and performing a ‘pretend’ ceremony, than doing it on-line. I also studied with a student who was Melbourne. Following the success of that experience, I then went on and did the three day Funeral Celebrant Course which was also excellent. It was a bit strange but really good that the practice Funeral I did with Keith – Chapel to Grave for a young mother who died of cancer – turned out to be an almost exact duplicate for my first Funeral as a Celebrant. My first funeral was a Chapel to Grave for a mother who died of cancer. A bit ‘meant to be’ really.
I have spoken to others who have studied with Keith and the grounding and support both during and after our training has been excellent and I am happy to recommend him as a tutor. I especially found the small classes, practical exercises and networking to be of value.
